iflight nazgul vs geprc mark5 - someone help me pick one already

  • Members

okay so ive been going back and forth on this for literally three weeks and i need someone to just tell me which one to get because i keep reading reviews and they all contradict each other. both are in similar price range, both are 5inch, both seem to have okay stock tunes based on what ive seen on youtube but youtube guys always make everything sound amazing so who knows.

im coming from a whoop so this will be my first real outdoor quad. i fly mostly parks and open areas, not racing, just want to cruise around and maybe learn some freestyle moves. the nazgul seems more popular but i dont know if thats just because iflight has better marketing or if its actually better. the mark5 frame looks cleaner to me but thats obviously not a real reason to pick one.

also does either one come with a vtx that can actually do 1w or are they both stuck at 400mw because i fly in a pretty open area and want the range.

for a first 5inch coming from whoops id genuinely just get the nazgul, not because its dramatically better but because theres way more people flying it so when you inevitably have a question about tuning or a weird issue someone has already had the same problem and posted about it. the mark5 is good but geprc's documentation and community support is a bit thinner. both will feel like a rocket ship compared to your whoop so dont stress too much about which one is technically better because you wont be able to tell the difference at first anyway

on the vtx question, most prebuilts in that range ship with 400mw or maybe 600mw, you usually have to look at the specific variant you're buying. some come with the runcam link or walksnail which changes the equation entirely if you want digital.

the mark 5 frame geometry is genuinely nicer imo, lower profile and the arm thickness feels more confidence inspiring when you're looking at it. but i will say i've seen a few people have issues with the esc stack on earlier batches, not sure if geprc fixed that. might be worth checking the recent batch dates before you order. either way both are going to need a retune if you're serious about freestyle, stock pids on prebuilts are always a comprimise for average flying conditions not actually good freestyle
