been shooting with my mini 4 pro for a few months and the footage looks decent but ive been reading that ND filters make a big difference for video, something about the 180 degree shutter rule. i get the concept i think but im not sure which ones to actually buy. theres like a million options on amazon ranging from $15 to $80+ and i have no idea if the cheap ones are garbage or if im overthinking it.

mostly flying in bright sunny conditions, sometimes overcast. not doing any professional work just personal travel videos and some stuff for my familys small instagram. do i even need the whole kit or can i just get one or two filters and call it good

honestly the cheap magnetic ones from amazon are fine for hobbyist stuff, ive used a $22 set for almost a year with no complaints. the main thing to watch for is vignetting on wide shots, some of the really cheap ones cause dark edges especially if you tilt the gimbal down. Freewell and K&F Concept are both solid without being crazy expensive, id stay away from the absolute bottom of the barrel but you dont need to spend $80 either.

for sunny days youre probably reaching for ND16 or ND64 most of the time depending on how bright it is. the kits that come with ND4, 8, 16, 64 cover basically every situation youll run into. if i had to pick just one and it was always sunny id say ND16 as a starting point

this might be slightly off topic but just make sure whatever filters you get are specifically listed as compatible with mini 4 pro because the lens on that one is different from the mini 3 pro and some older filter kits dont fit right. found that out the hard way when i ordered a set meant for my old mini 2 thinking itd work lol
