Planning my first drone trip to Spain and France this summer. I've got my US Part 107 license but I'm reading conflicting info about what I need to actually fly there. Some sites say just register, others mention needing CE marks or additional permits. Anyone recently fly commercially in EU? What's the real deal with paperwork and no-fly zones?

The EU drone rules are pretty streamlined now actually! From January 1st, 2024, all drones in the Specific category and those in the C1 to C6 must also have a remote identification system on board so make sure your drone has Remote ID. Registration is straightforward through each country's aviation authority.

Just got back from Italy last month. Download the DronSpace app - it shows real-time no-fly zones and is way more accurate than generic flight apps. Also, all drones cannot fly above 120 m above ground level or within proximity of an obstacle unless extra authorization is secured.

Honestly, I found it more restrictive than I expected. Many tourist spots have local bans that aren't in the official apps. Always ask locals or check with tourist info centers before flying near attractions.
