DJI Agras T40 vs T50 ? is the extra capacity actually worth it for smaller operations

alright so ive been going back and forth on this for weeks and i just need some outside input. we do custom application work, mostly smaller farm clients in the 50-200 acre range per job, some of it pretty tight with treelines and stuff. currently renting spray drone time from a guy two counties over which is getting old real fast.

the T40 seems like the obvious choice for our job sizes ? 40L tank, spreads fine, more maneuverable in tight areas from what ive read. but the T50 has that dual atomized sprayer setup and the tank capacity bump and i keep reading that the per-acre efficiency difference adds up over a full season. problem is the price jump is significant and im not sure my client base volume justifies it yet.

anyone running either of these commercially doing similar field sizes? the DJI marketing is useless for this kind of real-world comparison, they just want you to buy the bigger one obviously

ran a T30 before upgrading to the T40 last spring so i cant speak to the T50 directly but the T40 has been solid for the kind of work you're describing. honestly for fields under 200 acres with obstacles the bigger tank isnt always the flex people think it is ? you're stopping to refill anyway and the ground logistics usually bottleneck you before the capacity does. the T50 dual spray system is genuinely better for certain applications, like it handles viscosity variation better from what guys have told me, but for standard liquid fert and pesticide runs the T40 does the job

this is kind of tangential but are you factoring in the Part 137 agricultural aircraft operator cert requirements? depending on your state and what you're spraying the regulatory overhead of running a commercial spray operation is real and a lot of people jump to the hardware question before sorting that out. not saying you havent, just seen a few people get surprised by it when they're ready to start taking clients. the drone itself is almost the simpler part lol
