this has been happening for a few weeks now and its starting to stress me out. im flying, everything looks fine, then the feed just cuts out and i get a disconnect warning on my controller. the drone usually hovers and comes back on its own after a few seconds but twice now it just started return to home which i did not ask it to do. flying in pretty open areas, nothing obviously blocking signal.

im on the RC-N1 controller if that helps. havent changed anything in my setup recently that i can think of. just updated firmware last week hoping that would fix it but still happening. anyone dealt with this before or have any idea what to check

Few things to look at ? first check if there's any wifi interference in the areas you're flying. Sounds obvious but some spots that feel open are surrounded by 2.4ghz noise from farms, industrial buildings, stuff like that. In DJI Fly you can go into the signal settings and switch between auto and manually set it to 5.8ghz to see if that helps. Also worth checking your phone if you're using one in the controller setup, sometimes background apps are fighting for the connection. I had a similar thing happen and it turned out my phone was trying to download an update while i was flying which was killing the bandwidth. Kind of embarrassing but yeah.

RC-N1 cable can be a culprit too, ive seen a lot of posts about this. The usb-c connection loosens up over time especially if you've been swapping phones or just plugging it in a lot. try a diffrent cable and see if that changes anything. also make sure your phone screen isnt timing out during flight, thats caused weird behavior for me before
