did anyone else see the new DJI announcement or is it just me being slow

so i was scrolling through reddit last night and apparently DJI dropped something about a new mini series coming and also something about updated geofencing stuff in the firmware. i honestly cant tell whats rumor and whats actual confirmed news anymore because every tech site just reposts the same vague press release and calls it breaking news.

ive been flying for about 3 years now mostly recreationally and i feel like the regulations side of things has been moving SO fast lately. the LAANC stuff is way better than it used to be but i still get confused about when i actually need to submit versus when im fine to just go. anyone else keeping up with all the changes or have a good source they follow for this stuff? i used to check the FAA site directly but honestly its not the most user friendly thing in the world

yeah the new mini announcement has been floating around for a few weeks, most of what i've seen looks legit but the specs people are throwing around vary a lot so i'd wait for official word before getting too excited. for keeping up with regs i just follow a couple youtube channels that do monthly roundups, way easier than parsing FAA documents honestly. the LAANC thing trips people up constantly, general rule of thumb is if you're in controlled airspace you need it, but there are edge cases that'll make your head spin.

omg same i saw that and went down like a two hour rabbit hole trying to figure out if its real lol. i just got my part 107 like two months ago so im still learning all the regulation stuff but my instructor mentioned that the FAA has been pretty active about updating things lately. honestly kind of overwhelming as a newer pilot trying to keep up
