so anyway i finally got it and ive had it out maybe 6 or 7 times now so figured id share some real world impressions since most of the reviews i found were either from launch day 2 years ago or felt like they were written by someone who just read the spec sheet.
background: i was originally going to get a DJI Air 2S because thats just what everyone recommends and for good reason. but i kept coming back to the Autel because of the no geofencing thing and i fly near some areas that sometimes get flagged for no real reason. also the 1 inch sensor at this price point is hard to argue with.
real talk though ? the app is not as polished as DJI fly. like it works fine but theres some lag in the interface that i dont love and a couple times it did something slightly unexpected when switching modes. nothing scary but you notice it coming from DJI. the image quality though is genuinely really good, the variable aperture is useful more than i thought it would be especially on bright days. battery life feels about as advertised which was a pleasant surprise.
would i recommend it over Air 2S? honestly depends how much the geofencing stuff matters to you. if youre flying in open areas and want the smoothest experience DJI is still the safer bet. but im happy with my choice for my specific situation
