got denied on LAANC and i dont really understand why

so ive been trying to get authorization to fly near a small regional airport, nothing crazy, just wanted to get some shots of a reservoir that happens to be like 4 miles out from the runway. put in the LAANC request through aloft and it just came back denied immediately with basically no explanation. the area shows up as a blue grid on the map and i thought those were the ones you could get auto-approved for?

ive done this before in class D airspace without any issues so im a bit confused. is there something about certain grid squares that just flat out dont allow LAANC or do i need to go the full FAA DriveR route or whatever its called. part 107 certified btw if that matters

yeah some of those grid squares are set to 0 feet authorization ceiling even though they look like LAANC-enabled airspace. basically means the facility has told the FAA they dont want any drone traffic in that specific chunk, at least not through the automated system. you can still apply for a waiver through FAADRONEZON... ugh i always spell that wrong, DroneZone, the FAA portal. takes way longer though, like weeks sometimes.

also worth double checking what altitude you requested. ive seen people accidentally put in something higher than the grid allows and it kicks it back. even 1 foot over the ceiling and it just denies the whole thing.

had the same thing happen to me around a similar setup. turned out the airport had a NOTAM active that was temporarily restricting the whole area and LAANC just denies everything when thats in effect. might be worth checking notams.faa.gov or whatever the current site is called, they changed it like twice in the last two years so i always forget the url
