DJI fly app keeps resetting my settings after every firmware update and im losing my mind

  • Members

ok so this has been happening for a while and i've just been dealing with it but after the last update it happened again and i'm done ignoring it. every single time there's a firmware update for the mini 3 (on the aircraft or the RC2 controller, doesnt seem to matter which) my custom button assignments reset, my return to home altitude goes back to whatever the default is, and my video settings flip back to auto exposure. its not every setting, like my name and stuff stays, but the flight-critical ones that i actually care about just gone.

i always export my settings before updating but when i import them back it only seems to take some of them. i've seen a couple other people mention this on reddit but nobody had a real fix. is this a known bug or am i missing something obvious. feels like something that should not be this hard to solve in.

yeah this is a known annoyance, not just you. from what i understand the firmware update process on the RC2 specifically has a habit of wiping controller-side settings because it's essentially reimaging part of the system. the aircraft firmware updates are usually less agressive about it but it depends on how big the update is.

the import function in DJI fly has always been a bit hit or miss in my experience. what i do now is just keep a notes file on my phone with all my preferred settings written out and manually go through them after every update. takes maybe 5 minutes once you know where everything lives. annoying but faster than fighting the import tool.

same thing happend to me after the update a couple months back, my RTH altitude dropped back to 30m and i almost didn't catch it before a flight. now i have a pre-flight checklist i go through every single time regardless, partly because of this exact issue. its honestly kind of rediculous that DJI hasnt fixed this properly but here we are. also slightly off topic but has anyone else noticed the video feed on the RC2 gets weirdly laggy right after a fresh firmware install before you restart everything? takes like two full power cycles for mine to settle down
