litchi vs dronelink for complex waypoint missions ? anyone switched?

  • Members

so ive been using litchi for probably 3 years now and its fine, does what i need, but ive been hearing a lot about dronelink lately and im kind of curious if its actually worth the hassle of switching. my main use case is long linear corridor missions, think powerline inspections and the occasional road survey, so im not doing anything super exotic but i do need reliable altitude hold and consistent overlap for the photogrammetry side of things.

the thing that bugs me about litchi is it still feels pretty clunky when you're trying to adjust a mission in the field. like if a client adds a section last minute i'm basically rebuilding stuff on my phone and it's not great. does dronelink handle that better or is it similarly annoying? also wondering about the mavic 3 enterprise support because litchi has been weirdly slow to support some of the newer SDK stuff.

not asking anyone to make the decision for me just curious if people who do similar work have actually made the jump and whether it stuck

switched about 8 months ago and honestly havent looked back. the mission editing in the field is genuinely better with dronelink, you can adjust parameters on the fly without feeling like you're fighting the UI. that said the learning curve is real, took me a solid few weeks before i stopped reaching for litchi out of habit.

the mavic 3 support has been decent in my experience, no major weirdness. one thing i will say is the subscription model annoyed me at first but once i actually started using the advanced mission types i kind of got it. the hyperlapse and the terrain following stuff especially. for corridor work the CSV import for waypoints is way cleaner than anything litchi offers, at least imo.

i tried dronelink for like a month and went back to litchi tbh. maybe its just what im used to but something about the way dronelink handles camera triggers felt off to me and i was getting inconsistent overlap on my maps. could have been a settings thing i never figured out. litchi isnt perfect but i know exactly where all the weird edge cases are at this point which counts for something when you're on a job
