diatone vs iflight for a 3inch build, anyone have opinions

  • Members

picking between these two for a 3inch cinewhoopish freestyle thing. not a true cinewhoop, more like an unducted 3inch for proximity flying. budget is around 200ish for the frame and components, maybe a bit more if its genuinely worth it. ive heard diatone has better build quality on the frames but iflights customer support is less of a nightmare when something goes wrong. is that still accurate or has that changed

also slightly off topic but does anyone know if the diatone roma f35 takes standard 20x20 stacks or is it one of those annoying proprietary layouts. i cant tell from the product page and the diagrams are useless

the roma f35 is standard 20x20, you're fine. been running one with a mamba f405 stack and it fits without any drama. the frame itself is pretty solid carbon, no complaints there. diatone frames do tend to feel a bit more premium than iflight in my hands, the tolerances are tighter and the hardware that comes in the box is usually decent quality instead of the bargain bin m2 screws iflight throws in sometimes

on the support thing, honestly both are kind of a mixed bag depending on which rep you get. ive had good experiences with iflight support and ive also waited three weeks for a reply from them on a warranty thing. diatone support for me has been faster but sample size of like two interactions so take that for what its worth. at 200 budget for a 3inch you can make either work, i wouldnt stress the brand too much and just focus on what motors and fc youre pairing with it

tbh at that price range and that size class i just go betafpv or flywoo anymore, both companies have really dialed in their 3inch stuff and the flywoo explorer lr in particular is stupid good for proximity if you throw some higher kv motors on it. might not be exactly what youre asking but worth a look before committing to diatone or iflight
