okay so i finally feel like i have the basics down with my mini 2 se and i keep reading that nd filters are the next thing to get if i want my video to look less like... idk, video game footage? i think its the shutter speed thing, 180 degree rule or whatever. but theres like a million sets on amazon and i have no idea what the difference is between the cheap ones and the polarpl or freewell ones that cost way more. is it actually worth spending $60+ on filters for a drone that cost me $300 or am i overthinking this

mostly flying outdoors, mix of sunny days and overcast. no real professional stuff just want it to look nicer for personal stuff and maybe instagram

for casual use and instagram honestly a cheaper set will probably be fine. i used a no-name amazon set on my mini 2 for over a year before i upgraded and looking back the footage was totally fine. the freewell ones are better built and the glass is cleaner but the difference on a mini sensor isnt going to be life changing. id say grab a cheap ND 16 and ND 64 to start and see if you even use them regularly before dropping money on a nice set

i went straight for the freewell set and dont regret it but i also fly almost every weekend so for me it made sense. one thing nobody told me when i was starting out ? the ND filter number roughly tells you how much light it cuts. sunny blue sky day youre usually reaching for an ND64 or even ND256 around noon, overcast you might only need an ND16. took me a while to stop guessing and just look up what shutter speed im targeting for 24fps vs 30fps and work backwards from there. the 180 rule thing clicks once you actually do it a couple times
