so ive had my mini 3 pro for about 3 months now and mostly fly it outside which is fine but whenever i try to fly it inside my living room just to like mess around or get a quick shot it drifts like crazy. i have obstacle avoidance turned on and it still just slowly creeps toward the window or whatever. i thought maybe it was wind from the AC unit so i turned that off and it was still doing it. downward sensors should work on hardwood floor right? or does the floor pattern mess with it somehow. genuinely dont know if this is a settings thing or if im just doing something dumb

yeah the downward vision sensors can absolutely struggle on certain floor surfaces, especially if its a uniform color or really reflective hardwood. the sensors need visual texture to lock position properly. carpet actually works way better for indoor hover. also make sure you're not in sport mode because that disables a lot of the positioning stuff. if none of that helps try recalibrating the IMU, mine was drifting a bit after i banged it on a doorframe (dont ask) and the calibration fixed it right up.

I had the same thing happen and it turned out my return to home altitude was set weird and was confusing something but honestly I'm not sure that was even related. What I do know is flying inside is just kind of sketchy with these smaller drones, the prop wash bounces off walls and floors and makes it unstable in ways that dont happen outside. I usually just keep it in a big open garage if i want to fly indoors, gives it enough room to breathe.
