picked up a mini 4 pro a few weeks ago and im seeing a lot of people talk about ND filter sets but im not really a professional or anything, mostly just fly on weekends at the beach or hiking trails, maybe post stuff to instagram occasionally. the drone already takes pretty decent video without them from what ive seen so im wondering if its one of those things that sounds important but doesnt actually matter that much at my level. or does it make a noticeable difference even for casual use. also if they are worth it which ones are people actually using, theres like a million brands on amazon

honestly for instagram level stuff on a sunny day at the beach yes they make a real difference. without an ND you end up cranking your shutter speed way up to avoid overexposure and then your footage looks kind of choppy and weird, no motion blur. the 180 degree shutter rule thing is real even if it sounds like nerd stuff. that said you dont need an expensive set, i use the Freewell ones and they've been totally fine for like a year. just get an ND16 and ND64 to start, that'll cover most bright outdoor situations.

I went back and forth on this forever and finally bought a set and I do think my videos look better but I genuinely can't tell you if it's the filters or if I just got better at flying lol. the polarizer filter that comes in some sets is the one I actually notice the most, especially shooting water, cuts the glare really nicely. if you're already happy with how it looks without them maybe just wait and see if it starts bothering you
