Air 3 vs Air 3S ? is the upgrade actually worth it for casual weekend fliers

  • Members

so ive been flying my Air 3 for about a year now and honestly love it, no real complaints. but i keep seeing the Air 3S pop up everywhere and the low light stuff looks genuinely impressive in the sample footage i've watched. problem is i mostly fly on weekends, parks, occasional beach trips, nothing crazy. not doing paid work or anything.

my question is basically whether anyone who actually made that jump thinks it was worth the money for just hobbyist use. the sensor upgrade sounds great on paper but i dunno if i'd even notice the difference in my typical shooting conditions. most of my flying is like mid morning or afternoon anyway so not a ton of golden hour stuff. would love to hear from people who actually use either one regularly rather than just specs comparisons

honestly if you're flying in decent light most of the time the Air 3 is still a fantastic camera drone and i dont think you'd notice a massive difference in your day to day footage. the 3S is genuinely better in low light and the main sensor is a step up but for parks and beaches on a sunny weekend morning? your Air 3 is doing just fine. save the money unless you have a specific reason you keep feeling limited by what you're getting now

I upgraded from the Air 3 to the 3S a few months back and tbh I go back and forth on whether it was the right call for my situation. The image quality difference is real, especially when you start pushing things in post, but I also do a fair bit of sunrise flying so that probably tips the scale for me more than it would for you. One thing nobody really talks about is how the obstacle avoidance feels a bit more confident on the 3S, or maybe thats just in my head. Either way if you're happy with your footage now I wouldnt stress about it, the Air 3 isnt going anywhere anytime soon
