motor just stops mid flight, not crashing just... stops for a second then spins back up

ok so this has been driving me crazy for about two weeks now. im running a 5inch freestyle build, 2306 motors, 45a blheli32 escs, and every once in a while one of the motors just cuts out for maybe half a second then comes back. not a desync, ive had those and this feels different. the quad doesnt flip out or anything it just kind of dips and recovers.

ive reflashed the escs, checked all the solder joints under magnification, swapped the motor to a different esc and the problem followed the motor not the esc so i know the esc is fine. the motor itself looks clean, no rubbing, spins freely by hand. temps seem normal after flying. im at a total loss here. anyone seen this before?

had the exact same thing happen on a 2207 last season. turned out one of the phase wires had a tiny crack right where it enters the motor bell, you couldnt see it without flexing the wire while watching it. the insulation looked totally fine but there was a break in the conductor underneath. basically an intermittent open circuit. worth checking all three phase wires while wiggling them around, i found mine by just slowly bending each wire near the base while spinning the motor by hand and watching for resistance changes.

could also be a partial short inside the motor windings? i dont know the technical term for it but ive seen motors do weird stuff like that when a couple strands of the winding wire touch each other intermittently. usually shows up as slightly higher current draw too if you have a way to log that. does your fc log amps per motor or just total?
