anyone else feel like their photos never look as good as the preview on the controller

this has been bugging me for a while. i'll be out flying and the live view on my screen looks absolutely gorgeous, like im thinking wow this is gonna be a great shot. then i pull the card and look at the raws on my monitor and theyre just... fine. not bad but not that thing i saw. dunno if its the screen on the controller making everything look punchy or if im doing something wrong in post or what. feels like im always chasing something i cant quite get

shot some stuff over an old farmhouse area yesterday, golden hour, conditions were perfect. preview looked like a painting. raws looked like a competant photo lol. anyone else deal with this or have tips

yeah the controller screen has pretty aggressive contrast and saturation baked into the display, its not showing you what the raw file actually looks like. its basically just a preview profile. once you start grading the raw properly you can usually get close to or past what you saw on screen but it takes some work. i use lightroom and just push the dehaze slider and clarity a bit first to see whats actually in the file before i start tweaking anything

competant is doing a lot of work in that sentence lol. but yeah same problem here, i actually started shooting d-log for this exact reason cause at least then im not disappointed by a flat raw, i know its gonna need work and i kind of enjoy that process now. the farmhouse shot sounds cool though did you post it anywhere
