So ive been flying my Mini 3 Pro for about eight months now and honestly love it but keep second guessing myself whenever i see Air 3 footage. Like the obstacle avoidance on the Air 3 is supposedly way better and it has that omnidirectional sensing which sounds great but i mostly just fly over fields and around my parents farm on weekends, not doing anything crazy technical.

The thing that keeps pulling me toward the Air 3 is the low light performance. The Mini 3 Pro does ok in good light but golden hour and anything past that starts looking pretty rough even with some grading. My buddy has the Air 3 and his sunset shots look noticeably cleaner but he also spent like an extra $400 compared to what i paid and hes way more into the editing side than i am.

Anyone made that switch or gone the other direction? Wondering if im just in that classic gear lust phase or if theres actually a real practical reason to upgrade for the kind of flying i do.

Honestly for weekend farm flying the Mini 3 Pro is probably more drone than you need already. The Air 3 low light thing is real, i wont argue that, the sensor is noticeably bigger and you can feel it especially when you push the ISO. But if youre not printing large or delivering footage to clients the difference is going to matter a lot less than you think sitting there watching youtube comparisons at 2am.

I went from a Mini 2 to the Air 3 and the jump felt massive to me but i was also doing some paid real estate work by then so it made sense financially. Jumping from Mini 3 Pro to Air 3 is a much smaller gap technically. If your current footage looks good to you and your clients or just your own eyes, id sit on it another season and see if you still feel the same way.

the low light thing is real i got the Air 3 last spring and yeah the difference at dusk is pretty noticeable compared to my old Mini 2. havent used a Mini 3 Pro though so cant compare those two directly. either way sick that you have a farm to fly over, most of my flights are trying to find open fields near suburbs and not annoying people lol
