This has been driving me nuts for the last few weeks. Flying the Mavic 3 Classic with the RC 2 controller and im getting these random signal dropouts, not even that far out, sometimes only like 300 or 400 meters away in pretty open conditions. The drone just hovers and then reconnects after a few seconds but its making me paranoid especially since theres usually return to home set up but still.

I updated the firmware on both the bird and the controller when this started happening thinking that might fix it but no change. Tried a full relink of the controller too. I dont think its interference because it happens out in pretty rural areas too not just near buildings or wifi networks. Starting to wonder if theres something physically wrong with either the controller or one of the antennas on the drone.

Anyone dealt with this? Not sure if i should just contact DJI support or if theres some setting im missing.

Check how youre holding the controller ? sounds dumb but if the antennas on the RC 2 are pointed the wrong way it tanks signal way faster than people expect. The flat face of the antenna should be pointing at the drone not the edge. I spent like two weeks thinking my unit was defective and it was just that.

Also worth checking if theres any cracking or damage around where the antennas connect on the back of the controller, mine had a hairline issue there after i dropped it once and it caused weird intermittent stuff exactly like what youre describing. DJI support was actually pretty responsive when i sent it in, took about 10 days.

had similar issues on my Air 2S a while back, turned out to be a firmware bug that got patched like two updates later. might be worth checking the DJI forum specifically because they sometimes acknowledge these things quietly without making a big announcement. also are you using the RC 2 in the highest transmission mode or did it default to something lower at some point, i think theres a setting in the app for that under the remote controller settings tab somewhere.
