EVO II Pro keeps losing signal way faster than it should??

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a while and i cant figure out if its a me problem or a drone problem. my EVO II Pro will drop to weak signal and sometimes cut to RTH at distances that honestly shouldnt be an issue at all. i'm talking like 800 meters in a pretty open area, nothing crazy around. the EVO II is supposed to have solid range and i've seen people talk about going way further with no issues so im not sure whats going on with mine.

i dont think its interference because ive tried it in a couple different spots now with same result. controller antennas are positioned right, or at least i think they are. running the latest firmware. it just kind of randomly decides signal is bad and freaks out. sometimes its fine for like 15 minutes then suddenly drops hard.

anyone dealt with this? is there a setting im missing somewhere in the app that affects the signal sensitivity thresholds or something

had something similar a while back and for me it turned out to be the antenna connectors inside the controller had gotten a little loose, one of them wasnt fully seated. i only found it because i sent it in for something else and the tech mentioned it. not saying thats definitely your issue but worth looking into if you're comfortable opening it up or can find a local shop. the symptom you're describing where its fine for a bit then drops suddenly sounds kind of intermittent which makes me think connection issue rather than straight up range problem.

also worth checking if there's any physical damage around the antenna area on the aircraft itself, even minor stuff can affect it more than you'd expect.

random thought but are you flying near any cell towers or power lines in those spots? i know you said open area but 800m dropouts sound weird unless theres something causing interference you might not notice. i had a spot i flew all the time and then they put up a new tower nearby and my range went to absolute garbage before i figured out what changed.
