how often do you guys actually do proper maintenance on your quads

genuinely curious because i feel like i'm either overdoing it or not doing enough and i can never tell. i fly maybe 3-4 packs a session, couple times a week, mostly freestyle in a field with some light tree gaps. after every session i wipe it down, check the props, look for anything obvious. but i never really do like a deep inspection unless something feels off.

had a motor start making a grinding noise last month and when i pulled it apart there was grass and dirt compacted in there pretty bad. wasn't crashing a lot or anything, just flying low and apparently sucking up debris. wondering if i should be pulling motors and cleaning them more regularly or if thats just part of the deal. also my frame screws always seem to come loose and i'm using blue loctite but still have to go around and retighten every few sessions

the screw thing is just reality with these things, blue loctite helps but if you're flying hard it's never going to be a set-and-forget thing. i go around with a screwdriver every 5 or so sessions whether i think it needs it or not. found a motor mount that was basically hand tight once and didnt even notice anything wrong in the air which was terrifying in retrospect.

for motors i use compressed air to blow them out every couple weeks if im flying in grassy areas. pulling them apart is overkill unless you're hearing noise or noticing heat. the grinding you got is pretty common with low passes, grass just gets pulled up into the bell and packs in. some people put little foam filters but i find they cause more heat issues than they solve

honestly i'm pretty bad about maintenance and i've been lucky so far lol. i mostly just check props before each flight and look for cracked arms. probably should do more but i hate pulling things apart when everything seems to be working fine. the anxiety of reassembling and wondering if you put something back wrong is real
