RC-N3 controller keeps dropping signal randomly ? anyone else getting this

  • Members

so this has been bugging me for a while and I finally decided to post about it. flying my Air 3 with the RC-N3 and maybe once or twice per flight I get this brief signal dropout, the video feed freezes for like a second and then comes back, drone holds position fine so its not a huge safety thing but its annoying especially when im trying to record something and the feed stuttering messes with my concentration. happens at varying distances, sometimes pretty close like under 100 meters, not always far away.

ive tried recalibrating, checked for interference, flew at different times of day. its not consistent enough that i can really narrow down what causes it. phone is an android if that matters, pretty recent model. wondering if this is a known thing or if my unit might be having an issue

yeah android can be a bit finicky with the RC-N3 honestly. a couple things i'd check ? make sure you dont have any background apps running that might be competing for the USB connection, some people have had issues with battery optimization settings interfering with the DJI Fly app. also try a different USB cable if you havent, I know it sounds too simple but ive seen that fix weird dropout issues before. the stock cable that comes in the box isnt always the most reliable thing in the world.

if none of that helps it might be worth doing a full firmware refresh on both the drone and controller, not just an update but actually re-flashing it. there's a way to do it through the DJI assistant app on desktop.

I had somthing similar a few months back and for me it turned out to be the phone itself going into some kind of power saving mode mid-flight which was throttling the USB data. once i turned off adaptive battery for the DJI app it basically stopped happening. might not be your issue but worth a look before you start thinking the hardware is bad
