so ive been flying my Avata with goggles v2 since launch basically and last week a buddy let me try his setup which is the original DJI FPV combo with the v1 goggles and honestly i felt like the latency was... different? like maybe slightly more responsive feeling? he thinks im crazy and it might just be the different flight characteristics of the two aircraft messing with my perception but i genuinely felt something was off

both were on the same firmware near as we could tell, flying in the same field, similar lighting conditions. i know on paper the v2 is supposed to be better or at least equal but something felt sluggish and i cant figure out if its the goggles, the aircraft, or just me being weird about it. has anyone done like an actual side by side on this or am i just down a rabbit hole

yeah this comes up a lot and honestly the perceived latency thing is real but its probably not the goggles themselves. the Avata has a pretty different tune out of the box and the motion controller especially can make it feel floaty compared to the FPV drone which is just way more direct on inputs. if your buddy was on the standard RC controller for the FPV that alone would explain a lot of the difference you felt

ive swapped goggles between the two setups a bunch of times and never noticed a meaningful difference in the display latency, its more or less identical. what firmware were you both on though because there were some releases that definitely affected transmission performance

i thought the same thing when i first tried a friends FPV after flying my Avata for months lol. turned out i just wasnt used to how snappy the bigger drone feels. the Avata is tuned to be forgiving so it kind of smooths everything out which can read as lag even when its not
