DJI FPV keeps cutting to normal mode mid flight and i have no idea why

  • Members

this has been driving me insane for like two weeks now. im in manual mode, everything looks fine, and then at some point during the flight it just drops back to normal mode on its own. no warning i can remember, just suddenly the aircraft is self leveling and i nearly pancaked it into a tree last thursday because i was not expecting that at all

ive gone through the app settings probably four times, the switch on my remote is definitely set right, i dont have any automation or beginner mode stuff turned on that i can find. its not every flight either which makes it harder to pin down. happened three times in the last maybe ten sessions. running current firmware on everything. anyone dealt with this or have any idea where to even start

check your remote controller for a loose connection on the mode switch, that physical switch can develop contact issues and the controller will default to normal mode when it gets an ambiguous signal. ive seen this on a couple of units especially if the remote has taken any knocks. try wiggling the switch around while its connected and see if you can trigger the behavior on the ground without flying

also worth checking if youve got anything mapped to that function in the button customization screen, sometimes people set up something weird and forget about it

had something weirdly similar last summer, mine was an intermittent issue with the RC signal itself causing the aircraft to fall back to its safe defaults. ended up being interference at my usual spot near some industrial units. moved to a different field and never saw it again so maybe worth ruling out environmental stuff too before you go swapping hardware
