DJI FPV keeps drifting right in normal mode, recalibration not fixing it

  • Members

so this has been bugging me for a while and im at my wits end with it. Every time i take off in normal mode it drifts noticeably to the right. Not like a subtle thing, its maybe 3-4 feet over the course of 30 seconds if i just let go of the sticks. ive done the IMU calibration probably four times at this point and the compass calibration twice and it hasnt made any difference.

Flying on the RC motion controller mostly, but tried the standard RC too and same behavior so its not a controller issue i think. Firmware is up to date. It wasn't doing this when i first got it, started after i had a pretty hard landing a few months back, landed on grass but the tilt wasnt great. No visible damage to the frame or motors that i can see.

anyone dealt with this? im wondering if its a motor issue or something got knocked out of alignment internally

check if one of your motors is slightly bent on the shaft, even a tiny amount can cause this and its not always visible just looking at it. spin each motor by hand with the battery disconnected and feel for any wobble or roughness compared to the others. after a hard landing thats usually the first thing to go, the shafts are softer than people think

also worth checking if the arms are fully seated, sometimes after an impact they dont click back properly and you get weird flight characteristics

Had somethig similar after a crash and it turned out one of my props was ever so slightly warped, looked fine to the eye but once i swapped all four out the drift was gone. Might be worth trying that before you dig into motors, props are cheap and easy to rule out. Also when you do IMU calibration are you doing it on a completely flat surface? Like a level table not just putting it on the ground outside
