group flight yesterday went sideways a bit ? not in a fun way

so we had about 8 people out at the field yesterday which was cool, biggest group ive flown with. but man it got chaotic. two guys nearly had a midair because nobody was really calling out where they were flying and one dude just kept punching it into the same airspace as everyone else. we dont have any formal rules at our meetups and i think we kinda need some? or at least like, an altitude agreement or something. also one guy showed up with a 10 inch build he'd never actually flown before which was... a choice. ended up being fine but still made me nervous

yeah this is why most clubs eventually end up with at least some informal rules even if nobody wants to admit it. altitude bands work pretty well ? like under 50ft for low fast stuff, 50-150 for cruising, etc. doesnt have to be strict just gives people a mental model. the first-flight-at-a-crowded-meetup thing is always sketchy tbh, ive seen it go wrong more than once

lol the new build thing is so real, i definitely showed up to a group fly once with a quad i had literally maiden'd in my backyard for like 2 minutes the day before. in my defense it flew fine but looking back that was kind of dumb. the altitude idea sounds good though, might suggest that to our group
