I've been using Premiere Pro for my drone edits but keep hearing great things about DaVinci Resolve, especially since it's free. My current setup struggles with h.265 footage from my drone - it's really taxing on my CPU and slows down my workflow.

For those who've made the switch to Resolve:

• How's the learning curve compared to Premiere?
• Any issues with drone footage formats?
• What's your typical workflow for color grading aerial shots?

Considering the cost difference, I'm tempted to give Resolve a serious try.

Unlike Premiere Pro which relies more on CPU, DaVinci Resolve relies more on GPU performance - ideally you want 4GB+ VRAM. At $300/year for Premiere vs free for Resolve with comparable functionality, it's a no-brainer. Made the switch last year and love it.

I feel like Resolve is more intuitive than Premiere Pro, though the nodes functions take some getting used to. For workflow, I transcode to ProRes 422 HQ or use proxies to keep that 10-bit latitude for color correction. The color grading tools are incredible.

Just started with Resolve after years on Premiere. You can definitely drag and drop DJI files directly into Resolve - I use MP4 format without issues. The interface takes some getting used to with all the different tabs, but the free tutorials are amazing. Learning keyboard shortcuts is key for a smooth workflow.
