Hey everyone! Just got my first drone last month and I keep getting these awful photos where either the sky is completely white or everything else is super dark. I'm using a Mini 4 Pro and shooting in JPEG mode. It seems like I see either overblown sky or dark background way too often, and neither looks good.

Any quick fixes? I'm getting frustrated because the places I'm flying over look amazing but my photos... don't.

You need to shoot with bracketing or at least expose for the highlights (sky) so they're exposed correctly. There's a rule that blown out highlights with no information are almost impossible to recover, unlike shadows which can be recovered to some degree. Also, switch to RAW mode immediately - JPEG is limiting you big time!

I had this exact same problem when I started! What really helped me was shooting during golden hour instead of midday. Golden hour happens twice a day at sunset and sunrise, and the light is soft and most pleasing for the eye. Makes such a difference.

Honestly, daytime is not the best time to shoot epic drone photos since the sun is casting harsh shadows and light is not flattering. Wait for better conditions and your problems will solve themselves. Patience is key in drone photography.
