just picked up an EVO II Pro 6K ? what should i know?

so i finally pulled the trigger on an EVO II Pro after going back and forth for like three months between this and a few other options. got it used from a guy locally for a decent price and its in pretty good shape. im coming from a Phantom 4 so this is a pretty big jump for me honestly.

main thing im wondering about is the smart controller situation ? the one that came with it feels a little different than what im used to and the app seems to have some quirks. also read some stuff online about firmware issues but couldnt tell how old those posts were so not sure if thats still a thing. any tips from people who actually fly these regularly would be great, im planning to take it out this weekend if the wind cooperates

welcome to the EVO club, its a solid bird once you get used to it. firmware wise Autel has gotten a lot better over the past year or so, just make sure you update both the aircraft and the controller before you fly and you should be fine. the app (Sky Painter if they havent renamed it again) can be a bit finicky but once you figure out where everything is it works pretty well.

one thing i'd say from coming off a Phantom ? the obstacle avoidance on the EVO II is decent but not DJI level so just be a bit more cautious the first few flights especially in tighter spots. the 6K footage though is genuinely really good, especially if you shoot in the flat color profile and grade it yourself. enjoy the maiden flight

oh man i have the same one and the smart controller screen is SO much better than i expected in sunlight, way easier to see than my old phone setup. only thing that bugged me at first was battery life on the controller itself drains faster than youd think if you have the brightness cranked. small thing but worth knowing before a long session
