so i finally pulled the trigger on the EVO II Pro 6K after going back and forth between this and the Mavic 3 for like two months. ended up going with the Autel mostly because of the orange color honestly, easier to spot in the sky, and also the whole no geo-fencing thing which seemed really appealing since i fly in some rural areas where i shouldnt have any issues anyway but still.

anyway i got it yesterday and charged everything up, did a quick hover in the backyard to make sure nothing was obviously wrong, but i havent taken it out for a real flight yet. im pretty new to drones overall, had a cheap DJI Mini before this so this feels like a big step up. anything i should set up or check before i really get into it? firmware stuff, camera settings, anything i should watch out for?

congrats on the EVO II, great choice. first thing i'd do is make sure the firmware is fully updated before anything else, sometimes they ship with older versions and it makes a difference. the Autel Sky app can be a little finicky so if it gives you trouble during the update just close and reopen it, ive had it stall out a few times but it always sorted itself out eventually.

for the camera if you're coming from a Mini the 6K sensor is going to feel like a completely different world. i'd recommend shooting in some flat or log-style profile once you get comfortable because the default color science straight out of camera is a bit punchy for my taste, fine for casual stuff but if you want to do anything in post it gives you way more to work with. also calibrate the gimbal on flat ground before your first real session, takes like 30 seconds and avoids headaches later.

oh man i just got mine a few months ago and the one thing nobody told me was to make sure the propellers are on tight before every single flight. sounds obvious but i was so excited the first time i took it out i didnt double check and one was slightly loose, it was fine but it freaked me out mid-flight when i noticed some vibration. also the carrying case it comes with is actually pretty good, better than i expected so dont throw it out like i almost did lol
