so im heading to costa rica for three weeks and obviously the drone is coming. ive heard the rules are kind of all over the place there, like some national parks are totally off limits but i cant find a clear answer on which ones. anyone actually flown there recently? not just googled it but actually been on the ground and dealt with it

also wondering about bringing batteries through customs, ive done it in europe no problem but central america feels like it could be different. my setup is a mini 4 pro so the batteries are on the smaller side

went last year, flew around manuel antonio and the arenal area. national parks are a hard no, they will actually turn you away at the gate if they see drone gear in your bag, or at least they did to my buddy. beaches outside the parks were totally fine though, nobody said a word. just use common sense and dont fly over crowds of tourists and youll be good

batteries through customs at SJO were zero issue for me, they didnt even look twice. just kept them in my carry on like normal

not costa rica specifically but ive traveled with my mini a lot in central america and the main thing is just download the DGAC app for whatever country youre in, costa rica has their own aviation authority and they do have an app or at least a website where you can check zones. the rules on paper are stricter than reality in a lot of places but i still always try to check first just so im not completely caught off guard
