DJI's new release actually got me thinking about switching from Autel

  • Members

so ive been flying the Autel Evo Lite+ for about a year and a half now and honestly been pretty happy with it, but then DJI drops the Mini 4 Pro and now im second guessing everything. the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance on something that small is kind of wild to me, like i didnt think they could fit that into the Mini form factor yet.

anyone else been watching this and kind of feeling the pull? i know a lot of people left DJI over the whole data privacy thing a while back and went to Autel or Skydio, and i get that, but DJI just keeps making it hard to ignore them. the ActiveTrack on the new one also looks really refined compared to what i remember from the Mini 3.

not really asking for permission just curious if others are going through the same thing or if im overthinking the upgrade

honestly yeah same boat. i had the Mini 2 and jumped to Autel when all the government contractor ban stuff started making noise, figured id play it safe. but my Autel has had two firmware updates in the past 8 months and both of them felt kind of half baked, the return to home still drifts more than i'd like. DJI's software polish is just on another level and thats hard to argue with.

the regulatory stuff is worth keeping an eye on though, NDAA compliance is becoming a bigger deal if you do any commercial work, some clients are starting to ask about it specifically. for pure hobby flying probably doesnt matter as much but worth knowing where you stand
