We suggest PVC pipe for a lightweight yet durable gate. But I'm concerned about UV degradation and wind resistance for year-round outdoor use. Has anyone experimented with aluminum tubing for gate frames? Thinking 1-inch square aluminum tube with corner connectors.

Aluminum is definitely the way to go for permanent installations. I built my track three years ago with 1.5" square aluminum - still looks brand new. PVC gates I had before lasted about 18 months before getting brittle and cracking.

Cost difference is significant though. My 8-gate PVC setup cost $180 total. Same design in aluminum would be close to $600. For most club usage, PVC holds up fine if you replace sections annually.

It features durable vinyl mesh panels and creates a 5?5 opening. Whatever frame material you choose, invest in quality mesh panels. I've seen too many gates with cheap fabric that tears on the first crash.
