so ive been watching fpv content for like 6 months now and i finally want to pull the trigger on something. my budget is around 300-400 dollars and everyone keeps telling me to just build my own but honestly the amount of times ive watched a soldering tutorial and then immediately closed the tab is getting embarrassing.

i was looking at the DJI Avata 2 but thats more of a cinewhoop situation and i dont know if thats what i want for learning. someone mentioned the BetaFPV Cetus Pro as a starter thing. also been looking at some of the Emax stuff. basically i just want to know if prebuilts have gotten good enough that im not totally wasting money, or if ill just end up wanting to rebuild it anyway after i crash it three times

prebuilts have genuinely gotten better over the last couple years, not gonna lie. the BetaFPV Cetus kit is actually a solid way to start because you get the goggles and controller bundled and it flies in a mode that wont just throw you into angle mode hell forever. that said the second you want to swap a motor or fix an ESC after a real crash you're gonna need to learn to solder anyway so might as well start getting comfortable with that now.

the Avata 2 is a totally different thing, its more of a content creation tool than a proper fpv learning platform imo. if you want to eventually fly freestyle or race dont start there. id say get the Cetus or something like it to learn stick movements indoors, then when youre ready to go outside build a 5 inch. you'll understand why once you fry your first FC
