iFlight vs Diatone, anyone actually flown both long term

  • Members

been running an iFlight Nazgul for about a year and a half and its been pretty decent but im starting to look at getting a second 5 inch and Diatone keeps coming up. specifically the Roma or one of the MXC series. im not totally sold on either direction.

the iFlight stuff feels well put together out of the box, the wiring is clean, ESC has been solid, but ive heard the frames crack more than they should on heavier impacts. had one arm go on mine after a concrete faceplant but honestly that might just be physics. Diatone i know nothing about except that some people swear by them and some people say their QC is inconsistent. would love to hear from someone who has actually put real hours on both not just bought one and did three packs in the back yard

ran a Diatone GTR349 for almost two years doing mostly freestyle and had zero major issues with it. the frame on that thing took some genuinely stupid crashes and kept going. build quality felt a bit rougher than iFlight out of the box, like some of the screws were already slightly chewed and the motor wires were routed kind of aggressively, but once you fly it for a while none of that matters. motors ran hot after long sessions though, which some people say is normal for that config and some people say means the tuning is off

never owned an iFlight but my flying buddy has the Nazgul Evoque and the frame cracking thing is real, he's on his third arm. might just be that particular model though

honestly at this point both brands are fine and the differences are pretty marginal if you know how to tune. the bigger variable is what FC stack you end up with and whether youre on Betaflight or Emuflight or whatever. ive seen people make garbage hardware fly great and people make solid hardware fly like a drunk seagull purely based on tune. that said if i had to pick id probably lean Diatone just because the frames feel beefier to me but thats pretty subjective
