so ive been doing monthly progress shots for a mid-size commercial build for about 6 months now and started with DroneDeploy because honestly it was just easier to get started with. the automated flight planning is pretty solid and the orthomosaic output is clean enough that the site managers are happy with it.
but ive been hearing a lot about Pix4D giving better accuracy on the point clouds, especially when you have a lot of vertical structure which this site definitely has ? its a 4 story concrete pour so theres a fair amount of facade stuff that i want to capture properly. my GCP setup is fine i think, im using 5 points distributed across the site with a decent GNSS receiver so that part isnt really the issue.
question is whether the jump to Pix4D is actually worth it for this kind of work or if im just overthinking it and DroneDeploy is fine. also the pricing difference is not nothing so id want a real reason to switch not just marketing stuff
