so i've been building my own quads for a few years now, mostly 5inch freestyle stuff, and ive always just sourced parts individually. but lately ive been thinking about picking up a second quad as a backup that i dont have to babysit constantly, something i can just beat on without caring too much. was looking at prebuilts again for the first time in a while.

and honestly the iflight and geprc lineups look almost identical to me. similar price points, both using decent stacks, both shipping out of china with roughly the same lead times. like is there actually a meaningful quality difference between these two or is it just which one is on sale. ive heard people swear by geprc's build quality over iflight but i've also seen plenty of geprc motors die early so i dunno. anyone who's owned both have an actual take on this

had both. geprc tinygo and the cinelog for smaller stuff, iflight nazgul 5 v2 for full size. if im being real i think the frame quality edge goes to geprc slightly ? the carbon felt a bit thicker and the stack mounting was cleaner out of the box. but iflight's customer support was way faster when i had an esc issue, like they actually responded same day which i was not expecting. so i guess pick your poison depending on whether you're more worried about build quality or having to deal with warranty stuff later

the motors argument is kind of a wash imo. both use their own branded motors that are basically rebadged chinese motors with different magnets and winds. your best bet is just to check what kv you need and compare the specs directly rather than going by brand loyalty

tbh i think youre overthinking it. at that price range theyre both fine and the quad is gonna get bent anyway. i just go whoever has the better deal on racedayquads or getfpv at the time. spent too long agonizing over this exact question last year and in the end the frame i picked mattered way less than getting my tune dialed in
