how long does it actually take to get decent at flying

so ive been flying my mini for maybe a month now and i feel like im still trash at it. like i can get it up and hover and bring it back but anything more than that and i get confused about orientation when the drone is facing me instead of away. everyone online makes it look so easy. is there like a specific thing i should be practicing or do i just keep flying and it clicks eventually. also i keep overcorrecting on the sticks which makes it look really jerky when i watch the footage back

the orientation thing is genuinely one of those things that just suddenly clicks one day, cant really rush it. what helped me was picking a fixed point on the ground and doing figure 8s around it really slowly, forces you to think about which way the nose is pointing without panicking. for the overcorrecting ? smaller thumb movements, seriously like barely touch the stick. beginers always push too hard because it feels like nothings happening but the drone is actually responding, youre just not seeing it yet because of the lag between input and movement

a month isn't that long tbh. i'd say for most people it takes like 3-4 months of regular flying before it starts feeling natural, and by regular i mean at least a few times a week not just weekends. the jerkiness in footage might also partly be a gimbal smoothing setting thing worth checking but yeah stick control is probably the main thing. i still mess up orientation sometimes and ive been flying for two years so
