bought the Autel Evo Lite+ back in the spring mostly because i was tired of hearing about DJI and wanted to try something different, also the variable aperture thing sounded cool for the type of shooting i do. six months in here are my actual thoughts for anyone considering it.
the good stuff first ? image quality is genuinely excellent, like no complaints there at all. the variable aperture is a real feature not just a gimmick, especially shooting in mixed lighting conditions where i used to have to mess around with ND swaps constantly. build feels solid, more solid than my old mavic air 2 did tbh.
the frustrating parts though. the app. oh man the Autel Sky app has crashed on me more times than i can count and there was one firmware update that bricked my waypoint missions for like three weeks until they pushed a fix. customer support was fine but slow. also the ecosystem is just... smaller. finding good tutorials or community knowledge when something goes wrong is way harder than with DJI stuff where theres a youtube video for literally everything.
so would i buy it again? probably yeah but i went in knowing id be on my own a bit more. if youre a beginner i genuinely think the DJI ecosystem just makes your life easier even if the Autel hardware is competitive. if youre more experienced and want something a little different its worth looking at
