Had a hard crash into concrete yesterday and now the outer bell on my front left motor is slowly sliding up exposing the windings. The motor shaft appears to have splines and looks like it's pressed on. Has anyone dealt with this specific issue before?

I can temporarily secure it with JB Weld around the splines, but I'm concerned about balance and long-term reliability. Motor still spins but I don't trust it for flight.

Looking for advice on whether this is repairable or if I need full motor replacement. The pressed-fit design makes disassembly tricky.

I ended up replacing the motor, as far as I can tell there is no way to secure the case back in place and also I didn't want to take a chance I don't think I could ever trust it again. The best would be to send it in for them to fix its not an easy job if you've never did this before. Safety first on aircraft components.

Had the exact same issue on my P4 after a tree encounter. I used some slow drying jb weld and and carefully put it around the splines and though the hole of the cover... It's been working great so far. As good as New! Been flying it for months without issues, but replacement is still on my to-do list.

The bell separation usually indicates bearing damage or impact deformation of the shaft. The motor bell and bearings can both be replaced by removing a screw/C-clip on the bottom of the motor. Once this screw/C-clip is removed, the motor bell can be removed allowing access to the bearings, which are press-fit in place. Check for grinding when hand-spinning before deciding on repair vs replacement.
