so ive been building my own quads for like 4 years now and honestly im just tired of the build process at this point. not the fun kind of tired, like the "i just want to fly" kind of tired. my last build took me three weekends because i kept frying ESCs and tracking down a motor that was causing noise on the video feed.

anyway ive been looking at the Iflight Nazgul evoque and the Diatone Roma F5 as sort of the main contenders in the prebuilt 5" space. the evoque seems more popular on here but i keep seeing people say the stock tune is kinda mushy and needs work before it feels right. the Roma on the other hand i havent heard as much about but the specs look solid on paper. anyone have time on either of these or something else in this range i should be looking at? budget is around 250-300 assembled.

not opposed to a BNF if thats what makes sense, just dont want to spend two weeks reflashing and tuning before i can actually fly the thing. kind of defeats the purpose you know

had the nazgul evoque F5 V2 for about 6 months. the stock tune out of the box is honestly not terrible but yeah it does feel a bit soft in the rolls, like theres a slight lag that you notice once you've been flying a tighter tune. took me maybe an hour on betaflight to get it where i wanted ? bumped up the D term a little, tightened the master multiplier and it felt way closer to my custom builds. the motors they ship on it are decent, nothing special, but ive put probably 80 packs through it without any issues so reliability is there.

havent flown the Roma F5 personally but i know a guy at my local field who has one and he says it flies great but the frame is a bit flexy compared to the evoque. could matter depending on how hard you fly. if youre just doing freestyle at the park probably doesnt matter, if you're throwing it into gaps and flipping off stuff it might.

i went the prebuilt route last year after building for a while and honestly no regrets. got a BNF evoque and was flying same day which felt unreal after my usual build weekend experiences. tune wasnt perfect but its not like it was unflyable, just needed some tweaking in rates mostly. the one thing i will say is check the motor screws like immediately when it arrives, mine were loose on two motors out of the box which is apparently pretty common with the iflight stuff. not a huge deal just annoying if you dont catch it before your first flight
