Flywoo Explorer LR vs anything else for longer range cruising

  • Members

been running the Flywoo Explorer LR 4" for a while now and trying to figure out if im missing something better in this category or if its still kind of the go-to for low and slow longer range stuff. mine is set up with a Crossfire nano and its been solid but I had a buddy mention the BetaFPV Pavo25 and now im second guessing everything.

the Explorer is efficient as hell on 4S, im getting like 12-14 minutes on a 850mah which is crazy for how it flies. but the tune has always felt a little off to me on fast direction changes, like theres a weird oscillation i cant quite dial out. ive messed with the filtering a lot and got it better but never fully gone. could be my props honestly, i keep trying different ones.

the pavo25 is a whoop style though and im not sure thats what i want for outdoor longer range flying. anyone compared these two for like actual open field flying, not indoor stuff. or is there something in the 3-4" range i should be looking at that im completely sleeping on

the oscillation on fast direction changes on the Explorer ? is it more of a propwash thing or like an actual mid-throttle oscillation? because i had something similar and it turned out to be a D term that was just way too low for the props i was running. switched to HQprop 4x4x3 from the ethix S3s and it basically went away without touching anything else in betaflight. props make a huge difference on these lightweight builds

dont bother comparing the pavo to the explorer for outdoor range flying, theyre really not the same use case. the pavo is great if you want to noodle around proximity stuff but the ducts kill your efficiency outdoors and it just doesnt feel the same in wind. the Explorer is probably still one of the better prebuilt options for what youre describing tbh. if you want to look at something else in that range the Cinebot30 gets mentioned a lot but its more of a cinewhoop adjacent thing. for pure cruising efficiency on a prebuilt i havent personally seen anything beat the Explorer in that price bracket, though im curious if anyone has tried the newer Meteor stuff
