so this has been bugging me for a while and yesterday it finally bit me hard. running a 5inch freestyle build, 2306 motors paired with 45a blheli_32 escs, and ive been getting these weird twitches during fast rolls for probably the last 3 or 4 packs. figured it was just prop wash or my tune being a bit off but yesterday it full on desynced one motor at about 40 feet and just fell out of the sky straight into a parking lot curb. motor 3 is totalled, one arm is cracked, and the vtx antenna snapped off.

the weird thing is when i plug it back in on the bench and spin all four motors through betaflight motors tab everything sounds totally fine, no grinding, no hesitation. so im not sure if its an ESC issue or if theres something in the firmware settings. i was running damped light mode still because i thought rpm filtering made things worse but maybe thats the culprit? anyone dealt with this exact thing before because im kind of at a loss here.

yeah almost certainly the damped light situation. blheli_32 with damped light can cause exactly this on aggressive maneuvers, the back-EMF braking gets confused under certain throttle transitions and you get a desync. switch to bidirectional dshot and enable rpm filtering in betaflight, its genuinely not that hard to set up anymore and the desync issue basically disappears. also worth checking your dshot protocol setting, if youre on dshot300 bump it to dshot600 with those escs they can handle it fine and it tightens up the signal.

also your motor timing might be a factor. 2306 motors on high timing with damped light is a bad combo for desync. what motor timing are you running in blheli suite?

oof that sucks man. i had something similar happen but mine turned out to be a cold solder joint on one of the motor pads on the esc. looked totally fine visually but when i put a bit of pressure on the motor wire it would cut out intermittently. worth pulling the motor wires and reflowing all the joints just to rule that out before you go deep into firmware stuff.
