so this has been driving me absolutely crazy for the past two weeks. im flying my mini 3 pro and somewhere around 400-600 meters out it just drops connection, sometimes it comes back in a few seconds, sometimes i have to watch it just hover there until RTH kicks in. happened three times now and the last time it nearly came down in a neighbor's yard which was not fun to explain.

the weird thing is it doesnt happen every flight. like yesterday i pushed it to 800m no problem. but then this morning barely got to 350 before the RC-N1 just went blank. im in a semi rural area so its not like im surrounded by a ton of wifi interference, at least i dont think so. power lines maybe 100 meters from my usual launch spot, could that be it? ive tried switching between 2.4 and 5.8ghz manually but havent noticed a pattern yet.

anyone dealt with something like this consistently or should i just be talking to DJI support at this point

power lines are absolutely worth suspecting, ive had similar dropout behavior near substations and even regular residential lines can mess with your signal more than youd expect. the electromagnetic interference isnt always constant either which would explain why some flights are fine and others arent depending on load on the lines at that time of day.

one thing worth trying is pulling up your flight logs in DJI fly and checking the signal strength graph against the timestamp of the dropouts. if you see it degrading steadily before the disconnect its probably interference, if it just falls off a cliff suddenly it might actually be a hardware issue with the controller or antenna connection. the RC-N1 antennas are kind of annoying to position correctly and ive seen people get way better results just by making sure theyre oriented properly relative to where the aircraft is. sounds dumb but it matters more than people think.

had almost the exact same thing happen with mine a few months back. turned out there was a wifi extender my neighbor installed that was blasting on a channel that overlapped with my 5.8 band. i downloaded a wifi analyzer app on my phone before flights now and honestly its kind of shocking how much junk is floating around even in suburban areas. might be worth checking before you assume its the power lines
