XAG P100 vs DJI Agras T40 ? anyone actually run both

  • Members

been doing contract spraying for two seasons now mostly fungicide apps on wheat and some herbicide work on rice paddies. currently running a T40 and its been solid but a guy in my area is moving some XAG P100s at a decent price and im curious if anyone has actually run both platforms back to back

the T40 tank capacity and spread width are hard to argue with but ive heard the XAG radar terrain following is supposedly better in rolling ground, which matters where im working. also the parts situation for XAG in north america seems sketchy from what i can tell, like if something goes wrong mid season thats a real problem

im not looking for spec sheet comparisons, i can read those myself. just want to know if the real world handling is as different as people claim and whether the XAG battery system is as annoying to manage as it sounds or if thats overblown. the 40L capacity on the P100 is nice on paper but i want to know what the actual field efficiency looks like compared to running the T40 on a tight turnaround operation

havent run the P100 specifically but ran the XAG V40 for about half a season before switching back to DJI ecosystem. the terrain following on XAG is genuinely impressive, not gonna argue that, but the software side was where it fell apart for me ? mission planning felt less polished and syncing flight logs for agronomist reports was a headache. could be better now though, that was a couple years back

parts availability is the real concern you should be asking about. i had a motor controller go on the V40 and waited almost 3 weeks which during a spray window is just not acceptable. with the Agras stuff im usually back up in 2-3 days max through the dealer network. thats not a small thing when your contracts have weather windows

the battery management on XAG is definetly not overblown, its a real thing. the charging hubs have their own quirks and if you're running a lean operation without a dedicated ground crew person managing charge cycles youll feel it. T40 isnt perfect either but the ecosystem is more forgiving if something is slightly out of whack
