Just got my Part 107 last month and I'm completely lost on pricing. I've seen posts here where people say they charge $150 for real estate shoots, others say $500+. When I quote $300 for a basic property shoot, clients act like I'm crazy expensive. But then I see established pilots saying never go below $400.

Should I start lower to build a portfolio? I have a DJI Air 2S and decent editing skills. Also confused about travel time - do you charge for drive time to the location? Any guidance would be awesome!

Don't undervalue yourself right out of the gate! If you have a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and are complying legally in the U.S. national airspace, you should command a higher price than a competitor who isn't flying legally. Start at $250-300 minimum for real estate and work your way up as you gain experience.

Stop thinking "I charge $200/hr". Start thinking "My client saves $18k in crop loss"?then price a percentage of savings. Farmers happily paid $3.50/acre when we framed it that way. Focus on the value you provide, not just the time you spend flying.

I'm in the same boat - got my Part 107 two weeks ago! From what I've read here, one commercial drone pilot we know who was just getting started set up appointments with all the realtors in his area when he first launched his aerial services business and offered to do his first shoot for free. He did a small project for free, a realtor loved it, and this led to an ongoing relationship and one of his biggest accounts.
