trying to decide between these two for a contract spraying setup, mainly rice but some wheat fields too. i've demoed the T40 at a dealer event and the spread pattern looked solid but that was on flat dry land, not real paddy conditions. the XAG P100 keeps coming up in some of the chinese ag forums i lurk on and the specs on paper look competitive but i cant find anyone outside of asia who's actually put hours on one in a commercial context.

the T40 is obviously the safer bet from a support standpoint if something breaks but it's also considerably more expensive here once you factor in the DJI ag care plan and the terrain following radar module. the P100 i'd basically be on my own for parts which makes me nervous for a commercial operation where downtime costs real money.

anyone running either of these on anything more than a couple hundred acres? curious about actual tank refill times and how the obstacle avoidance handles irregular field edges because the paddies around here have trees and power lines that get close.

havent used the P100 but we run two T40s and have for about 14 months now. the terrain following is genuinely impressive once you get the radar calibrated right, it took us a few flights to dial in the sensitivity because it was triggering altitude changes on stuff that wasnt actually an obstacle but once we sorted that out its been reliable. paddy edges are a bit tricky because of water reflections messing with the downward sensors occasionally but you learn the manual override habits pretty quick.

tank refill with the dedicated pump station is around 4-5 minutes realistically including the walk and hookup, maybe a bit faster if you have a second person. where the T40 really earns its cost is in the app ecosystem and the fact that you can actually call someone when something goes wrong. support from DJI agras isn't perfect but its a lot better than nothing.

the XAG stuff has a pretty solid reputation in southeast asia from what i can tell but youre right that parts availability outside that region is basically a gamble. i looked into it pretty seriously last year and ended up walking away just because the nearest service center was like 8 hours from me. for a commercial setup that kind of risk is hard to justify unless the price difference is dramatic enough that you could absorb some downtime costs. what's the actual price gap you're looking at? that would change my thinking a lot.
