Beginner here - drone won't take off, need troubleshooting help

  • Members

Hi all! Just got my first DJI drone (Mini 4 Pro) and I'm having issues getting it to take off. The motors start spinning but it won't actually lift off the ground. Check if the aircraft is in Beginner or Tutorial mode. In Beginner mode, the aircraft cannot take off if the GPS signal is weak. Please disable the mode or fly the aircraft when the GPS signal is strong. I've checked the propellers and they seem fine. The app shows some warnings but I can't figure out what they mean. Any ideas what I might be missing?

Power on the drone and remote controller, launch the app and tap the map in the lower left corner of the screen and see if the drone is in the Restricted Zone. DJI Fly?The red area in the map indicates the Restricted Zone? That's usually the first thing to check when having takeoff issues.

Make sure you wait for the GPS to fully lock before attempting takeoff. When "Ready to Go " appears and the app notifies that the Home Point has been refreshed, the drone is ready to take off. Also double-check your propeller installation - they need to be properly tightened!

I had the exact same issue when I started! Most errors result from outdated firmware. Ensure your aircraft is updated to the latest supported version. Try updating everything first - that solved 90% of my early problems.
