so ive been flying my mini 3 for about 6 months now and honestly most of my shots have been pretty meh but yesterday everything just clicked. got out to this reservoir near my house around 6:30pm and the light was insane. did a slow reverse pull back from some reeds and the reflection on the water just looked incredible on my phone screen.

havent edited it yet, still raw d-log footage sitting on my SD card. debating whether to even color grade it or just leave it natural because honestly the colors were already pretty punchy. anyone else find that sometimes the unedited stuff just looks better? or am i just being lazy lol

d-log and "punchy colors" dont really go together, d-log is specifically flat so it needs grading to look good. if it looked punchy on your screen youre probably not shooting in d-log and its more likely the normal color profile. worth checking your settings before you get too attached to the footage lol

either way sunset over water is hard to mess up, post it when you edit

yes please post it. i love seeing reservoir shots, theres something about flat water at golden hour that just works every time. i had a similar moment last spring at a lake near me and it became like my most viewed video by far. people just respond to that kind of shot
