this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a me problem or a drone problem. my Nano+ starts getting signal warnings around 400-500 feet away which seems way too short. im flying in a pretty open area, no obvious interference, and ive seen people online saying they get way more range than that.

i do have my phone in a case which i know can sometimes affect things but i didnt think it was that dramatic. running the latest firmware as far as i know. the controller light goes solid before i take off so its connected properly.

anyone dealt with this? not sure if i should be looking at a different phone, the case, or if something is actually wrong with the unit. its only a few months old so warranty is still valid but id rather not deal with that if its something simple im missing.

phone case 100% can do this, especially if its a thick or rubbery one. the antenna on the controller and your phone both factor in and some cases just absolutely kill the signal. try flying once with the case completely off and see if it changes anything, that would at least tell you if thats the culprit before you go down any other rabbit holes.

also which phone are you using? some androids just have notoriously bad wifi/BT performance in general and it shows up in RC range in a very annoying way.

had almost the exact same thing happen and it turned out i had a wifi router on the same channel causing interference. i know you said open area but do you mean like a park near a neighborhood? worth checking with a wifi analyzer app just to see whats crowded in the 2.4 and 5ghz bands around where you usually fly. wasnt something i ever would have thought to check on my own honestly.
